WHO WE ARE

Musical Theatre for KIDS is a theatre education provider that offers workshops as a tool to expose children to the arts and helps them improve important soft skills including, public speaking, problem solving, teamwork, commitment and improvisation.

Founded in August 2013 in Bangkok, Thailand by performer Kristen Rossi and artist Young Ji Kim with the help of the creative space of The Hop, we began as an experiment to see how we could create workshops that would help bring the heart and soul of Broadway to youth in Asia.

The joy of sharing our passions of performance, fine arts, and the soft skills these disciplines teach is what motivates us year after year.  We are hands on and focus on the children being involved in the entire process, from set design to performance. Always emphasizing quality over quantity, we aim to keep classes small, shows manageable in content and for each child to leave everyday feeling a sense of achievement, increased confidence and passion.

VISION STRATEGY & AIM

  • Our VISION is to provide a place where any child can embrace their love of the arts.

  • Our STRATEGY is to leverage our experience and passion as professional  artists to drive quality learning and delivery.

  • Our AIM is for each child to leave everyday feeling a sense of achievement, increased confidence and passion.

  • SAFETY. We aim to ensure both physical and emotional safety by providing a secure, stable space and focusing on nurturing each child’s natural ability.  All of our teachers undergo annual background checks with the Royal Thai police.

  • POSITIVITY.  Everyone needs feedback to grow, but we focus on giving constructive, positiive feedback.

  • ACCEPTANCE. In acting there is the practice of always saying ‘yes’ on stage, of accepting what is given. Each child is different and each will have a different approach to the same end.  Musical Theatre for KIDS and The Hop provide a space for children to try out any idea they may have; to accept, experiment and see where the idea leads!

  • GROWTH. We encourage growth, in taking a chance. We would rather see a child challenge themselves then coast in mediocrity. Our workshops are about the experience, with performance as a by-product

Drama & Music

Absolutely the best camp for children in the capital.  Over 5 days my two restless and crazy boys rehearsed and remembered their lines, got involved in costume design, learned their choreography, actively took on set design duties, learned to be a team and took over when one cast member fell sick, asked to work on songs and lines with us after every dinner and showed dedication throughout....

actually learned important life lessons and were not just baby-sat over the holidays.

And the icing in the cake: as we were walking out, my boys both asked when woukd be the next performance.

Not every camp can influence a child with this much positivity and reach thejr young hearts with such love, but certainly the teachers here can! 5 stars from me and our whole family!

What Our Parents Say

"I just wanted to send a quick word to thank you so much for the wonderful 3 weeks that (child's name omitted) spent with Anna, Young Ji and all the kids. I really can't say enough how fantastic the programs were, and the two teachers are just phenomenal, it was really such a privilege."

"We were so happy that (child's name omitted)  got to do the thing he loves.

We are looking forward for the next one."
